When you work out using a bench try out the pads on it by pressing down. If the wood is easily palpable beneath the padding, choose an alternate machine. Always workout on machines with enough padding; if not, you won’t get enough support, and may experience bruising.

Flex your glutes when you lift weights above your head. This will help firm up your butt while helping your body to align itself better for a safer work out. It will help take the load off your spine.

Alternate sets of crunches with sets of sit-ups for a better ab workout. Unfortunately, sit-ups have been painted in a negative light in recent years. You should always steer clear of anchored sit ups. These particular sit-ups are terrible on your lower back.
